If it can be measured,
it can be remade.

JC Additive measures broken, worn or obsolete parts, rebuilds them as precise CAD models, and reprints them in engineering-grade materials — from automotive trim to one-off products and prototypes.

The method

Three steps from broken to better

Every job follows the same engineering discipline — the same one used to develop cars, applied to your part.

01 · Measure

Capture the part

The original part is measured precisely — geometry, fixing points, material behaviour and how it interfaces with everything around it. Damaged or missing features are inferred from function, not guesswork.

TOOLS: CALIPERS · REFERENCE PHOTOGRAPHY · FIRST-PRINCIPLES ANALYSIS
02 · Model

Rebuild it in CAD

A full parametric CAD model is built from the measurements. This is where problems get fixed: weak points reinforced, tolerances tightened, and design flaws in the original engineered out.

TOOLS: ONSHAPE PARAMETRIC CAD · TOLERANCE ANALYSIS
03 · Print

Print in the right material

The part is printed on modern high-speed FDM equipment in a material matched to its job — UV-stable ASA for exterior automotive parts, tough PETG for functional pieces, PLA for display work.

TOOLS: BAMBU LAB P2S · ASA / PETG / PLA

Capabilities

Engineered, not just printed

  • Reverse engineeringDiscontinued, broken or one-off parts measured and rebuilt as full parametric CAD models you own.
  • CAD designNew products and parts designed from a sketch, a photo or a conversation — in Onshape, shareable and revisable.
  • MaterialsASA for UV-stable exterior and automotive parts, PETG for tough functional pieces, PLA for display and consumer products.
  • Small batchesOne-offs to short production runs, with consistent quality print to print.
  • ImprovementOriginals aren't just copied — weak points are reinforced and design flaws engineered out along the way.

Who's behind JC Additive

JC Additive is run by Jack Chilvers, a professional automotive aerodynamicist with a background in Formula 1 and mainstream vehicle development.

That matters because the hard part of reverse engineering isn't the printing — it's understanding why a part is shaped the way it is, what loads it sees, and what it has to survive. That's the day job, applied to yours.
